Neural circuits and behaviour
Our goal is to elucidate how neural circuits coordinate behaviour, and how molecular machines underpin the properties of individual neurons that make up these circuits. The powerful genetics and well-described nervous system of C. elegans, combined with optogenetics and neural imaging offer special opportunities to address these questions. Previously we identified an intricate series of sensory neurons that modulate aggregation of C. elegans. These have led us to study circuits that respond to O2, CO2, noxious cues, satiety state, and pheromones. Our work focuses on understanding how these circuits function.
