Our laboratory is situated at the Medical Research Council Laboratory for Molecular Biology (MRC LMB).
We aim is to understand the molecular mechanisms that protect our chromosomes from breaking and fusing.
In particular we have been studying the molecular defects that result in the human genetic illness Fanconi Anaemia (FA). The phenotype of this illness underscores the importance of chromosome stability for normal human health and development.
Although human genetics has mapped out this pathway that keeps our chromosomes in good shape, revealing the molecular function of the FA proteins remains a considerable challenge.
