I graduated in 1990 in natural sciences from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) Zürich. Then I moved to the
MRC Centre for Protein Engineering, Cambridge, UK to join the group of
Dr. Greg Winter, FRS, where I obtained my Ph.D. in 1994 under the joint supervision of Dr. Greg Winter and
Prof. T.J. Richmond, ETH Zürich.
I stayed with Dr. Greg Winter as a postdoc, to continue the work on
diabodies as well as on the structure and function of
g3p, the main infectivity protein of filamentous bacteriophages.
In 1999 I was appointed junior group leader at the CPE and in 2000 I became a group leader at the MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology.
