PhD in a relevant scientific subject, or due to obtain PhD within 6 months


Previous work experience

Experience in techniques relevant to research proposals

Technical skills which can be introduced into the LMB

Research plans which offer an original approach to tackling an important scientific problem

Evidence through doctoral studies that have creativity to introduce new ideas or approaches

Clear reasons for wishing to join the selected research group, and to take advantage of the opportunities in the LMB

Wider vision of how research plans fit into personal long term goals

Criteria 3:

Ability to address and solve experimental problems

Existing experience of solving problems leading to publishable results

Independent problem solving

Criteria 4:

Ability to explain research clearly to a scientific audience

Proven ability and interest in presenting research to a wider audience

Excellent verbal communication skills

Criteria 5:

Experience in contributing to scientific papers.  Author on at least one paper

First author paper in a recognised peer reviewed journal

Strong skills and experience of working as part of a wider research group
