Privacy & Cookies
Use of your data
We may collect personal information through web forms on our site or third party supplier sites for the following reasons:
- To send you email alerts and newsletters.
- We use third party suppliers to send email alerts to communicate with you about topics you specify. You will be directed to an external website to enter your email address and select your email preferences. If you choose to set an optional password to manage your preferences this will be held securely, and is not accessible to anyone at either the LMB or our third party supplier.
- To collect information for specific activities, for example public engagement activities.
Further information on how your data will be used can be found on the relevant form.
In all cases the information you provide is only used for the transaction for which you granted permission. It will never be passed on or used for any other purpose.
Cookies
Cookies are tiny text files that web browsers use to store small amounts of information on your computer. In recent years they have gained a bad reputation because some websites set large numbers of cookies that last for a long time and share information with unexpected places.
The LMB only sets three cookies, none of which can identify you personally.
Name | Lifetime | Visibility | Why? |
cookie_notice_accepted | 1 year | The LMB | This contains the word “true” and stops the cookie warning showing on every page |
_ga _ga_ALPHASTRING |
400 days | The LMB, Google Analytics |
These two cookies help us see which pages are popular on our site, what search terms led people here, and how people travel through the site.
They contain a number that doesn’t identify you personally and changes if you switch browser or device, or if you delete cookies. |
Since we use cookies to help us improve the site we would rather you didn’t disable them, but the site will still work if you do. The only difference you will see is that the cookie warning will appear on every page. To learn more about cookies, what they do, and how you can block them completely, visit allaboutcookies.org or the Wikipedia HTTP Cookies page.
For further details on the cookies set by Google Analytics, please refer to the Google Code website.
If you have any queries about these cookies or would like more information about them, please get in touch.
