Freedom of Information (FoI) Act, Environmental Information Regulations and Data Protection Act 2018
The Freedom of Information Act 2000 and Environmental Information Regulations 2004 give you specific rights to obtain information about what we do and how we do it.
The Data Protection Act 2018 gives you the right to see personal information we hold about you.
The MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology (LMB), as part of the Medical Research Council (MRC) and UK Research & Innovation (UKRI), is committed to openness, transparency, good record-keeping and effective communication in our handling of all requests for information.
Under the Freedom of Information Act 2000, all public authorities designated under the Act are obliged to adopt and maintain a publication scheme. The aim of the publication scheme is to set out:
- The classes of information they publish or intend to publish as a matter of course.
- How the information is, or is intended to be, published.
- Whether the material is, or is intended to be, made available to the public free of charge or on payment.
The purpose of the publication scheme is to ensure that a large amount of information is readily available to members of the public, i.e. without the need for specific consideration under the FoI Act and to inform the public of the extent of material that is available.
The UK Research and Innovation Publication Scheme and the MRC Guide to Information aim to make a significant amount of our information available to you without needing to request it specifically under the FoI Act or Environmental Information Regulations.
