Suggestions by Alex for Resident Artists

Taking notes during lab meetings is a very good idea, but most useful when talking to researchers individually about their work. It may be helpful to ask how they can imagine their work being interpreted/illustrated in possible future publications.

I found it personally very helpful talking to each member of the lab about how their research is developing and where they see it going. It helped me develop ideas, which I was able to convey to them individually which they could comment on and in most cases correct and hugely develop the ideas further.

Once ideas have been drafted, it is always a good idea to keep in constant converse and contact with the members of the team. They helped me keep moving in the right direction on the project so that the end result would not be in vain.

Remember that all members of the lab are key to output of research and that everyone has a relative opinion, which in the end helped me make the most of my time at the MRC.
