During my studies I did a summer internship in Petros Ligoxygakis\u2019 group at the Department of Biochemistry in Oxford studying innate immunity in Drosophila. I came back to T\u00fcbingen for my Masters research project for which I undertook a genetic screen to identify genes involved in germ cell migration in Drosophila in Andrew Renault\u2019s lab at the Max Planck Institute for Developmental Biology. After graduating with a Masters degree in 2009, I joined Jordan Raff\u2019s lab at the University of Oxford for my PhD. In Jordan\u2019s lab I investigated how centrosomes are formed and which consequences the loss of centrosomes has using Drosophila as a model system. I received my PhD in December 2013 and joined Simon\u2019s lab in early 2014.
