There, I obtained my PhD on the identification and characterisation of viroporins from RNA viruses at the Centro de Biologia Molecular &#8220;Severo Ochoa&#8221; with Luis Carrasco. In 2009, I moved in Germany to do my first post-doc in Ralf Bartenschlager&#8217;s group\u00a0at the University of Heidelberg, where I focused on hepatitis C virus RNA replication and the mode of action of host target antivirals. It was at that time when I started to have a growing interest in cell and RNA biology, and established new techniques to study protein-RNA interactions.
