Title : Locked Brain

Category :

Highly Commended

AD: “My project consists of a brain with a lock and lots of keys in the background. The brain is a magazine collage made from small ripped up parts of light pink paper.. the lock is made with a square of yellow paper with a keyhole drawn on in black pen. The keys are all outlined with black fineliner pen and are all coloured in with pencil or pen but are all different shapes, sizes, patterns and colours. I chose to feature all the different keys to imply that only one would fit. This suggests that all brains, particularly teenage brains are unique. Some people may think I chose to use the lock to show secrecy, but I included it to show that teenagers brains change and develop on the inside and it can't necessarily be seen from outward appearance.”

Judges comments: “I like this, both for its obvious and not so obvious meanings.
Skill in collage and subtle working. Very inventive.”
