Title : Is she thinking what he's thinking?

Category :

Highly Commended

AD: “My final piece shows a teenage boy and girl meeting each other and a view inside their brain. I used my brainstorming of ideas, my research and moodboard to come up with my final piece. The buttons inside their heads represent the teenage craze with technology and social media (like/dislike/chat buttons.) It also shows the way that often one feeling can completely dominate all others and mood can change dramatically and very quickly ('at the click of a button'). Furthermore, all of the buttons I chose were specific to teenagers, such as being self conscious and more emotional for girls, and becoming cockier, aggressive and more risk taking for boys. I put the boy and the girl facing each other with the mice in their brains clicking on flirt to show that teenagers become keener to build relationships. ”

Judges comments: “Simple and entertaining. Good representation of the scientific issues, inventive.
Nice graphic with good links to teenage communication and engagement with the science.”
