GW: “For my final piece I have used a variety of techniques to achieve a collaged design. For the base layer I used the printer press to emboss a design. I used a crowded print in order to create the impression of lots of thoughts in a small space which would cause a lot of confusion, similar to that inside a teenage brain. I then created a brain out of layers of card; each layer represents different thoughts, such as relationships, school grades, peer pressure, anger, friendships etc. Finally I have used the arrangement of words using different fonts and size to signify and define the importance of each word. This shows the confusion of a teenage brain which surrounds priorities in their lives. ”
Judges comments: “The brain idea is promising – this piece would benefit from a greater focus on concept.”
