This material is supplemental to Ford et al., "Curvature of clathrin coated pits driven by epsin" Nature, 419: 361-366 (.pdf).
The alpha 0 helices from 4 symmetry-related molecules of epsin ENTH bound to Ins(1,4,5)P3 contribute to the formation of a 4-helix bundle in the crystal, thereby burying the hydrophobic residues L6, M10 and I13 in a protected hydrophobic core. Another view of helix 0, (bottom) also shows how the hydrophobic residues align on the surface.
