Biographical Note

Dr Tony Crowther. My first degree was in mathematics at Cambridge. After taking a postgraduate diploma in computing, I became a Graduate Student at the Laboratory of Molecular Biology. Most of my research career has been at LMB, where I was Joint Head of the Structural Studies Division from 1994 to 2005. My main research interests are virus structure and the abnormal filaments that form in neurodegenerative diseases. I am also involved in development of computational methods for electron microscope imaging. I am a Fellow of Peterhouse, one of the Cambridge Colleges. I was elected a member of the European Molecular Biology Organisation in 1985, a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1993, and a Fellow of the Academy of Medical Sciences in 2007.
