My main areas of interest are the mechanisms of DNA segregation and cell division in and how these processes are coupled temporally and spatially. Like eukaryotes, Archaea such as Sulfolobus acidocaldarius possess an ordered cell cycle with distinct phases of growth, DNA replication and cell division. My project is investigating the mechanisms of DNA segregation and cell division in archaea and how these processes are coupled mechanistically.
