Research – Past and Present

Research

In the following seven chapters, I provide summaries of our work from 1986 to my retirement at the end of 2023. I will also provide a list of Bienz group alumni and their destinations, and brief personal information regarding my past leadership and mentoring activities.

(1) Silencers limiting HOX gene expression in the Drosophila embryo
(2) The Drosophila embryonic midgut as a paradigm for inductive signalling
(3) Signal integration by TCF factors binding to HOX midgut enhancers
(4) The Wnt enhanceosome
(5) Dual functions of the APC tumour suppressor
(6) Wnt signalosome assembly by dynamic head-to-tail polymerisation of Dishevelled
(7) Head-to-tail polymerisation in plants
