SD: “My piece portrays a teenage girl huddled in the corner of a room. She is crouched and rejected. There is a coal-black shadow surrounding her, signifying that she is isolated from everybody else. This represents the struggles that teenagers feel. Near her are a pile of books, and these represent the hard work that occurs during life and that often cause great stress to teenagers. The headphones represent entertainment, but they also show the loneliness and separation as the music gives you the chance to be alone and in your own world. Some areas in my piece are darker than others which extend on the harsh reality and struggles teenagers feel through development. ”
