Title : Unseen Emotions
Category : The Teenage Brain
LK: “In response to our Teenage Brain unit of work, I have made a drawing using pencil and pen to present the wide range of emotions that teenagers feel, some positive and some negative. My interpretation is that teenagers are often misunderstood by other generations and some people are quick to imagine the stereotypes before they know what sort of situations and feelings that young people are dealing with. It seems that because these stereotypes are so fixed, teenagers don’t get the chance to express themselves without being prejudged. On the inside, young people are feeling emotions that others can’t see, so it isn’t fair to jump to conclusions. In the bottom left corner of the page, I drew a teenage girl with a slip of paper over her mouth that says “typical teen” to show that teenagers are labelled and it is difficult to change what people think. The rest of the page is covered by a thought bubble filled with different feelings, that don’t show on the outside; I am trying to show that the things going on in a teenager’s mind can’t be summed up by a stereotype and in fact, the mind of a teenager is very alive and inquisitive as it is being exposed to new experiences. ”
