Title : Hiding Emotion
Category : The Teenage Brain
MM: “My piece of artwork is based on the emotion of teenagers of which during the teenage years there is significant growth and development of the brain, with some areas maturing more that others which can lead to heightened emotion. So I wanted to express this emotion within my work. My final concept involved the idea of hiding emotion and putting on a front. To create this I used layering of images of a teenage friend combining different aspects of emotion through expression to body language to colour, using the mediums of charcoal and graphite.”
Judges comments: “Technically and emotional strong series of drawings. Would have benefited from a clearer link to the science.”
