Title : The Teenage Mind
Category : The Teenage Brain
MM: “My piece is about the teenage brain expanding and being discovered in a world of darkness. The boring pencil halve of the brain displays skills that everybody knows and needs, simple things like eating, walking, and everyday things that you don’t even think about. I chose to use just pencil for this as it6 shows that it is boring in comparison to the vivid colours opposite. The other side of the brain shows different aspects of life and all the colourful experiences that you go through as a teenager all the sections are different and this expresses diversity. I elected to use acrylic paints as they are bold and leave a statement especially when complemented by a black background. My piece explores the transition from childhood to teenage years. I have interpreted the brief of this piece as having to express diversity and transition through teenage years. I chose to mount my work on pale blue as it brings out more of the blue colours and the mirror adds aspects such as more colours reflecting into the piece and seeing yourself in the image.”
