HN: “My project deals with visual memory and the brain. My aim is to show visual memory, which is related to visual experience, and visual information, which resembles objects, places or people in a mental image. I have built an ‘antique camera’ and I have placed a face sculpture in front of the camera. The camera represents the human brain. As I have used the sculpture which I made from my face, I have also decided to use photos of me, my family and places which are all parts of my memories. I have edited the pictures using computer software, turning them into old looking pictures, to show the passage of time. A memory is a photograph taken by the heart to make a special moment last forever.
“Memories are the architecture of our identity.””
Judges comments: “A mature and ambitious piece that demonstrates the gamut of human experience and perception of self. It would be worth considering further investigating the selection and methods of displaying of the photographs.”
