I grew up in London before starting my BSc in Biochemistry at the University of Bristol in 2020. During my undergraduate studies, I spent a year as a placement student in Anne Ephrussi’s group at EMBL Heidelberg, which included a working visit to the Bullock group at the LMB. During this year, I used biochemical and single-molecule imaging techniques to investigate how kinesin-1 and dynein motors coordinate mRNA transport during Drosophila development. Several months later, I completed my final year undergraduate research project in Anna Chambers’ group. Over the course of three months, I investigated the interplay between yeast Irc5 and Sae2 as part of the DNA damage response, with a focus on the homeostasis of DNA-RNA hybrids and double-stranded break repair. I began my PhD in October 2024 in Simon’s group where my current project aims to dissect the mechanisms of dynein-mediated mRNA transport in human cells.
