I completed my undergraduate degree in Biomedical Sciences at King’s College London with a year in industry at GlaxoSmithKline between my second and final year. At the end of my first year, I worked as a summer student in Ros Eeles’ lab at the Institute of Cancer Research on mutations that increase the risk of cancer. I am fascinated by mRNA localisation as a mechanism for gene regulation. I joined Simon’s group as a BBSRC-funded PhD student in 2022, where I am studying the molecular basis of mRNA trafficking by the dynein machinery. I am taking advantage of the lab’s expertise with in vitro and in vivo methods to elucidate how dynein recognises localising mRNAs and subsequently transports them to their specific target site.
