The meadow flower planting on the mounds around the edge of the LMB building was intended to mitigate the loss of grassland habitat of the original site and to try and increase biodiversity. The original wildflower planting mix contained 20+ different species of wildflowers and ornamental grasses. Over time, nature has intervened and we now have a different blend of plant species including Salvia verbenaca (wild sage) seen here on day 161 of #LMB365. The rich variety of plants, with the bulk of them requiring insect pollination, has started to develop into a mature ecosystem beneficial to the LMB bees.
