LMB raises over £1500 for Addenbrooke’s Charitable Trust

The annual LMB charity Christmas raffle, and Craft and Chatter Group sale, has raised £1545.00 for the Addenbrooke’s Charitable Trust (ACT). The LMB raffle has been held since the early 1970s and each year a charity is chosen because of the support it has provided for members of the LMB and their families. Since 2000, it has raised in excess of £28,500 for local and national charities.

The ACT helps Addenbrooke’s and The Rosie hospitals in raising funds for cutting edge technology, additional specialist staff, environmental enhancements and extra comforts for patients that make all the difference over and above what is possible with just NHS funding. The LMB’s donation will go towards the ‘Buy Addenbrooke’s a Robot’ appeal. Incisions made using robotic surgery are much smaller, reducing the risk of complications and infection, minimising scarring, pain and discomfort and meaning that patients can be discharged from hospital within a matter of days, not weeks.

As the local hospital, and a key neighbour to the LMB on the Cambridge Biomedical Campus, Addenbrooke’s has supported many people from the LMB with diagnosis and treatments, especially during the last year. We are delighted to be able to thank them with our donation.

In addition to the raffle, the LMB Craft and Chatter Group added over £230 to the total donation, by holding a couple of pop-up shops, including its now annual charity Christmas craft sale. A large variety of handmade goods, including gifts and decorations, were made and sold by the group.

The LMB thanks all of those who have helped make these events a success, and wishes everyone all the best for 2022.
