Dr Madan Babu has been selected as an EMBO Young Investigator.
The European Molecular Biology Organization (EMBO) set up their Young Investigator programme ten years ago which identifies some of Europe’s most promising and creative young life scientists.
This year, the programme received 123 applications out of which 17 were selected. The 2009 EMBO Young Investigators come from nine different countries with an average age of 36. Dr Madan Babu is one of the youngest winners at 29 years of age.
“The EMBO Young Investigators Programme offers a level of distinction for young researchers that is hard to find at this stage of their life science careers,” says Gerlind Wallon, EMBO Deputy Director and manager of the Young Investigator Programme. The Young Investigators are selected each year by EMBO Members based on the quality of their scientific work. Those selected receive financial and training benefits as well as new opportunities for collaborations with other scientists.
Dr Babu’s research focuses on focuses on the structural, functional and evolutionary constraints that shape biological systems.
