Hugh Pelham, Director of the LMB, recently presented Joy Worship, Manager of Acorn House, The Sick Children’s Trust, with a cheque for £1496.30, which was raised at the LMB’s annual Christmas Charity Raffle. Joy was delighted with the gift and said that the contribution would go towards the £68,000 annual running costs of Acorn House, which is funded solely by voluntary donations. Acorn House is open 365 days a year and has accommodation for 15 families a night who stay there when their seriously ill children are receiving hospital treatment.
In Joy’s letter of acknowledgement she expressed her thanks on behalf of all the sick children and their families for the generous LMB donation.
The LMB Christmas Charity Raffle, which selects a different charity each year to benefit from the proceeds, was such a success because of the generosity of our commercial contacts and staff who donated a splendid array of raffle prizes such as an Xbox 360, 5 kindles, bottles of champagne, and much, much more.
In true Christmas spirit it is heartening to know that the LMB raffle is not only great fun, but also raises much needed funds for good causes. In the last 10 years over £14,000 has been raised for different local charities.
