Per Bullough

Per Bullough was a Ph.D. student in the Structural Studies Division at LMB from 1985-1989 developing new methods of low-dose imaging of biological molecules using electron microscopy.  He then moved to Harvard University where he joined Don Wiley’s group.  During his time there as a postdoctoral fellow, he solved the structure of the influenza haemagglutinin in the low pH, fusion conformation, before returning to LMB for a year in 1994.   Since then, he has been at Sheffield University first as a lecturer, and now Professor.  He is a structural biologist using electron cryo-microscopy to study the structure of membrane proteins and large biological complexes.
