LMB staff shared their artistic flair during the annual LMB Art Show, with exhibits including hand-made jewellery, paintings, photographs, cross stitch and crafts on display in the LMB atrium for all to see and enjoy for two weeks in July.
A wide range of creativity was on show from the 22 exhibitors who took part in this year’s event: paintings included acrylic and water colour, whilst arts and crafts included pottery, models, furniture, metalworking tools and musical instruments. The most popular media was photography, with subject matter including people in formal and natural styles, wildlife and nature, buildings and structures and even workplace shots.
The two-week show included a ‘meet the artists’ event where members of the LMB were invited to chat to the exhibitors about their work, techniques and inspirations, and even try playing the hand-made harp. The exhibitors enjoyed the opportunity to share their creative side and network with others from the LMB.
David Street, LMB Estates and Facilities engineer, who took over running the Art Show in 2017, commented, “The event gives members of the Lab the opportunity to show and discuss their work with colleagues in a relaxed, informal environment. It gives an alternative focus for staff and will hopefully inspire others to get creative themselves.”
The LMB Art Show is open to anyone who works at the LMB to exhibit material from home or indeed work, and is a great opportunity for individuals to show the rest of the LMB their creative side and gain much admiration from colleagues!
