The LMB celebrated all things creative during the annual Arts and Crafts show, a staple event in the LMB’s calendar.
The show, held across a fortnight in June in the LMB atrium, showcased a wide variety of hand-made creations by staff.
HR Advisor Ash Munday, who organised the event, said, “It is a privilege to have helped run the LMB Arts and Craft Show again this year. One of the best parts of the show is seeing colleagues and guests enjoying the work on display. Over the two weeks the show ran, you would regularly see people stop to examine the exhibits on their way through the atrium. As usual, the show would not have been possible without support from the IT and Stores Teams who help move furniture and equipment so all the work can be displayed.”
There was certainly plenty to admire as the 15 contributors boasted a great range of expertise in painting, sculpture, cynotypes and digital photography, jewellery-making, model vehicles, and crochet.
This year there was also a special call-out to share photos of perishable makes, and several LMB bakers rose to the occasion with mouth-watering cakes complete with extravagant decorations. The impressive talents added another element to the show, proving that there are many forms of creative expression on display at the LMB.
Ash commented, “We saw pictures of fairytale castles made from cake, intricately decorated cupcakes and some of the most beautiful celebration cakes.”
Additionally, this year contributors provided some tips and advice about their chosen artform. Hopefully this will encourage more people to explore their creative side, and maybe we will even see the fruits of their labour on display at next year’s show.
