LMB raises £378 at Macmillan Coffee Morning

Published on 19 October, 2016

cakes on tableFor the second year running, the LMB’s HR team, supported by colleagues across the LMB, showed off their baking skills for the Macmillan Cancer Support World’s Biggest Coffee Morning, on Friday 30th September. A large table of home made cakes, biscuits and sweets greeted staff on entrance to the LMB’s restaurant.

This year’s showcase was a ‘Spot the Cake’ competition, with staff trying to guess how many spots there were on a decorated cake – there were 495 of them. Yee Lian Chew, of the LMB’s Neurobiology Division, was the successful competition winner. Through the generosity of members of the LMB a grand total of £378 was raised this year, easily beating last year’s total.

The money raised for Macmillan Cancer Support will go towards making sure no one faces cancer alone. As a charity they provide medical, emotional, practical and financial support, as well as campaigning for better cancer care. Cancer affects more than just those facing it, Macmillan is there for friends and family too. The money collected at the LMB could pay for a Macmillan nurse to spend an hour supporting 13 individuals who have just been diagnosed with cancer.

A big thank you to everyone who took part, from the very talented bakers to those who bought cakes and donated.
