Interviews:

The LMB seeks to recruit outstanding students with strong research potential, as based on their academic records, previous research experience, references and interview assessment.

On average we receive about 190 applications per year, approximately 60 students are invited for interviews during the PhD Recruitment Days and of these 20-30 are offered PhD places.

The same entrance criteria are applied to all students, whether they are applying for MRC Studentships, LMB Scholarships or have their own external funding, thus ensuring that the excellent standard of PhD students is maintained.

All candidates who are invited to the PhD Recruitment Days will be interviewed by one or more of the supervisors they applied to. We also encourage all candidates to look round the facilities of the Laboratory, and importantly, to talk to other members of the supervisor’s research group(s) and current LMB students.

LMB Scholarship applicants:

If you are an overseas applicant and have not already secured funding you will automatically be considered for an LMB Cambridge Scholarship. A selection panel under the Chairmanship of the Director of Studies will draw up a list of up to ten of the best candidates (exceptionally more) to be invited for interview.

Shortlisted Scholarship candidates will be notified before the Recruitment Days. Members of the Scholarship Panel and the potential supervisor(s) will then interview each of the shortlisted Scholarship candidates during the Recruitment Days, or by arrangement on a date close to these days.

Cesar Milstein Studentship applicants:
