Group Leader Profiles
Group Leaders are drawn to the LMB from all over the world, having gained experience in a variety of places. Some join the LMB to set up their first group, others bring an established group, but all help to create a lively and international community for the exchange of ideas and technical innovation.
While research is their main focus, their career paths, experience, philosophy and personal situations can offer insight into the role of a scientist and provide inspiration for others. Group leader profiles aim to highlight that successful research is not just about the science.
Many of the profiles were written by science writer and LMB Alumna, Kathy Weston, who interviewed female group leaders in 2019 when performing research for her book, “Ahead of the Curve”. The book showcases the scientific achievements of some of the LMB’s female pioneers, describing the work they have done within the context of their lives outside the lab.
