The LMB’s annual charity Christmas raffle took place in December 2015. Staff at the LMB raised a total of £1372.85 for Cancer Research UK. This year’s charity was chosen in memory of their late colleague, Neil Marshall, who sadly lost his fight with cancer earlier in 2015.
Cancer Research UK is a charity dedicated to beating all types of cancer by funding research into the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of the disease. Cancer survival rates have doubled in the last 40 years thanks to research, and the charity also runs various campaigns to raise cancer awareness and influence public policy.
Local Fundraising Manager, Catherine Cope, from Cancer Research UK recently received the donation from the LMB’s Director, Hugh Pelham. Catherine said “It’s great to meet Hugh and the team and be able to thank them in person for their fantastic fundraising efforts. Without the commitment and determination of supporters such as those at the LMB, we wouldn’t be able to fund our vital research. Working together, we will beat cancer sooner.”
The LMB has held a Christmas raffle since the early 1970’s and supported many local and national charities. Each year the charity chosen will have a connection to someone at the LMB – either for the help and support they have given, or in remembrance of a member of staff. Since 2000 the LMB has raised nearly £20,000 for charity.
