  • 1961-64: Research Student with Dr Sydney Brenner at MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology, Cambridge; Scholar of the Worshipful Company of Salters, London and holder of a Research Studentship at Gonville and Caius College
  • 1964-70: Research Fellow, Gonville and Caius College and MA, PhD (Cambridge University)
  • 1964-65: Postdoctoral Fellow with Dr Paul Berg at Stanford University, Fulbright Scholar and Jane Coffin Childs Fellow
