LMB scientists visited Ely Cathedral for LifeLab last weekend to talk to members of the public about their research on the origin of life and about how cryo-EM works. On day 275 of #LMB365, we see some LMB volunteers carrying the backdrop of the LMB’s Recipe4Life stand out of the cathedral

LMB 365 – Day 274
Working at the LMB isn’t all about science. One of our administrative staff submitted this image for day 274 of #LMB365. The excellent work of the administrative and facility staff is crucial in facilitating the ground-breaking science that takes place at LMB every day
LMB 365 – Day 273
This beautiful sunset for day 273 of #LMB365 was taken by Georgia Ntatsiou as she left work – luckily for us she had her camera at the ready.
LMB 365 – Day 272
The two amoebae shown here on day 272 of #LMB365 are drinking their surrounding medium by macropinocytosis and contain two different fluorescent proteins, one marking their actin ‘muscles’ and the other a membrane signal (PIP3) that guides where the actin works. These are viewed using a cutting edge light-sheet microscope built by James Manton in the LMB’s Light Microscopy Facility. Successive frames are combined and colour coded to create this scientific art
LMB 365 – Day 271
During September the LMB Library promoted its new collection of environmental books, to help us make positive changes for a greener life, as seen here on day 271 of #LMB365. As well as displaying some plastic free items, posters by the LMB green committee showed users how the LMB is trying to reduce waste and encourage wildlife
LMB 365 – Day 270
Day 270 of #LMB365 shows members of the Genotyping and McKenzie groups saying a fond farewell to James McKenzie with the help of a few cakes! James spent a gap year working in the Genotyping Service before leaving to begin his studies in chemistry, at the University of Southampton. The Genotyping Service will now be joined by a new school leaver. This benefits both the Genotyping Service, by providing a valuable pair of additional hands, and the school leaver, who gets excellent laboratory experience before starting their university studies
