LMB on the Road LMB scientists and staff are involved in a variety of public engagement events, festivals, exhibitions and schemes, spreading enthusiasm for science with the surrounding local area and beyond. Ongoing Microscopes4Schools Competition An exciting competition where local primary school pupils use a hand-held digital microscope provided free-of-charge to take images of biological samples that they have collected. Microscopes 4 Schools An outreach project that takes the hidden beauty of the microscopic world into the classroom. Pint of Science LMB scientists took part in Cambridge Pint of Science. Cambridge Festival LMB scientists take part in the annual Cambridge Festival through talks, hands-on activities and other events. Big Biology Day LMB scientists bring fun hands-on activities to this one day science festival. Royal Society Summer Exhibition LMB features at the annual Royal Society Summer Science Exhibition. Previously LifeLab LMB scientists took their research to public spaces in Cambridge, Ely, and Peterborough for LifeLab in 2018 and 2019 Science-Dance Project Students from King Edward VI School in Bury St Edmunds created a dance performance inspired by the research of the LMB's Denise Walker. Soapbox Science The LMB's Nicola Smyllie, along with other leading female scientists from the region, showcased her science to the public in an event to raise the profile of women in science. Science Museum Exhibition The LMB’s John O’Neill helped develop a new display about body clocks for the London Science Museum’s Who Am I? exhibition. Cam-AST Challenge Project LMB scientists worked with Year 11 students from the neighbouring Cambridge Academy for Science and Technology (Cam-AST) on an eight week Challenge Project: ‘Getting a taste for science’. Big Bang 2013 LMB scientists and staff took ‘Virus Wars’ to The Big Bang at ExCeL London.
