Cambridge Festival

The interdisciplinary Cambridge Festival has replaced the Cambridge Science Festival and Cambridge Festival of Ideas in giving the puplic the opportunity to explore the amazing variety of research being done across Cambridge. LMB scientists get involved each year, giving talks or running activities that relate to their research.

2021
In 2021, LMB scientists contributed to the Cambridge Festival with a livestreamed lab tour and a set of activities showing how studying worms can help us understand our brains.

2019
In 2019, LMB researchers took exhibits on synthetic biology and the origin of life to the Guildhall, Liz Miller spoke about her research in an evening talk at CAST, and “See Your Cells” went to CAST for the last Sunday of the festival.

2018
In 2018 Denise Walker and volunteers took their hands-on activity, ‘Worms are cleverer than you think’, to the Guildhall, Richard Henderson talked about structural biology at Cambridge Academy for Science and Technology, and STEM in Song came to the LMB.

2017
In 2017 ‘See Your Cells’ came to the Guildhall, Rebecca Taylor and Brad Amos talked about their research at the University Technical College Cambridge, and Denise Walker and Kristin Webster’s new hands-on activity ‘Worms are cleverer than you think’ made its debut.

2016
In 2016 LMB group leaders John O’Neill and Greg Jefferis talked about their research at the University Technical College Cambridge.
2015
In 2015 visitors to the Corn Exchange got the opportunity to participate in ‘See Your Cells’ with the LMB’s hands-on activity, and at the Chemistry Department the LMB’s ‘Crystal Clear’ stand gave visitors an insight into X-ray crystallography.
